Welcome to your source of the latest information concerning the 2007 Persimmon Festival in Mitchell, IN - a 61 year tradition in celebration of the vision of George Bishop "to celebrate the persimmon" - no, not the Japanese hybrid import variety, the native American tree that grows in the wild in southern Indiana.

The festival will run from Saturday, Sept. 22nd through Saturday, Sept. 29th. The parade will be held on the closing Saturday. If you wish to participate in the parade, use this entry form (entry form is in Adobe Acrobat format - if you do not have Acrobat, download a free version from Adobe).
Activities on Main Street do not begin until Monday, Sept. 24th.
The Main Street Stage venue will host a variety of events nightly starting on Monday with Queen contests and musical performers throughout the week. The musical head liners are Endless Summer and Lick Creek Band. The Persimmon Festival Parade takes center stage Saturday afternoon. As always, food abounds on Main Street starting on Monday. The Carnival on Main Street also starts on Monday evening with special ticket prices for Monday through Friday (See Rides).

Service organizations have been a big part of making Mitchell a great place to live. They have provided many valuable services to the community, from financial to people giving time to help each other. They are a vital part to the success of any community.
